Hi guys; I need non-tech easy english advice please. My HP scanjet 2100C loads from the disc on to my computer, I get all the tick boxes;Windows *installs software for my new hardware" I do ALL the steps required; have checked and re-checked every single cable, usb, connection, plug etc ... when I try to scan, I get "scanner not found" .... The darn thing is in program files and control panel/add/delete programs, but it's not in *scanners and cameras* ... nor can I find it in device manager. I've just spent 3 frustrating hours uninstalling, rebooting, re-installing dah dah dah till I'm blue in the face and ready to rip my own hair out! This has been an on-going prob since I bought my computer package 5 years ago... oh, and when the puter DOES finally find the scanner, the scanner will only work until my next re-boot .. then I'm back to re-installing etc. Needless to say, I hardly EVER scan anything ... but these are wedding photos that I wanna share ... so PLEASE help :-)

Try using the HP Director or similar program that came with the unit. Sometimes that's the only way to get HP crap to work...I got one like that too. D4Dog "beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder"

Uninstall the software and disconnect the scanner. Then, go to HP's website and download the most recent drivers. Boot to safe mode, and then install the software. Soylent Green is PEOPLE!!!
