This is really bothering me. I tried to run Scandisk in DOS with WinME Startup Disk. Everything seems to work, the screen pops up but it simply freezes before it starts scanning the first item (media)

Does the computer even boot into windows? Can you run scandisk from windows or is there some problem? The hard disk may be bad. Can you read data on C:? Type in C: at the A: prompt and type in DIR and see what it says.

When it finished (hours later), I tried to defrag but it said to run scandisk. Confused, I tried scandisk in DOS and it froze up on me. How else can I test the hard drive?
