Subject: scandisk problem on Win MeOS: win meCPU/Ram: intel celeron, 256 RAM |
Comment: I am having problems with my scandisk. When my computer perform a scandisk, it gives me a message that my disk is not responding to scandisk. It says that I have remove my drive. That is weird to me as I was scanning my harddisk. I have two hard disk. One master (80 Gb) and one slave (8 gb). The master harddisk is an upgrade. I used to only have 8 GB. I have supposedly dual os booting. However, I am having trouble with that too. I can only access Win ME but not Win XP. What I want to do now is to just have one os booting, which is Win XP. I basically want to "reformat" my both drives and just run Win XP. But I would like to keep my files on my current harddrive. Can anyone please help? Thanks in advance.

Reply: (edit)just to follow up... I am also having problems with my boot up. When I boot up my computer, I will have two choices... option one: microsoft windows (Win ME) and option two: Win XP Installation. When I chose Option 2, my computer tries to startup but after a while, a blue screen appears and an error message which says "stop:0x0000007B (0xf9e8563c, 0x0000034, etc....) So I don't know how I can proceed with my Win XP installation. Please help... Thanks!

Reply: (edit)Just pop in the XP CD, let it boot itself up, then delete all partitions, and format as NTFS, then let XP do its' magic. Make sure you back up all your data. -Andrew

One option is Win Me and the other is Win XP Pro Installation. When I select the Win XP Pro installation, my computer always freezes when it tries to start windows setup. Reply: (edit)Thanks Andy...sorry about it, i am not very good with computers but i did manage to change the boot up from CD in my BIOS but it went so fast that I couldn't boot up by CD. It just goes to my old screen where I have the same two choices, which is Win ME and Win XP setup. I don't know what else I can do to get it to startup from CD. The screen switch from the boot up from CD to the dual-OS chioces very quickly. Please help. Thank!
