Scandisk + Defrag problems

Hello once again!!!
This time when i try to perform Scandisk or Defrag my Hard Drive i get the message that another disk utility has locked my hard drive...the problem is that i haven't got a utility such this.
Any suggestions?

Neither Scandisk nor Defrag will work properly if anything at all is running in the background, they will either hang up or keep going back to the beginning.
Therefore, close ALL running progs.
To do this press CNTRL-ALT-DEL and 'end task' everything except Explorer and Systray.
Also disable your Screensaver.
If you still have problems then try running Scandisk in Safe Mode.

this is a post a little further down the page.
Try response 6, first line, if Lesleys response dont do the trick.
Response 3 was a desperate last measure by me, i used the 2 together, 4 or 5 times.....i now dont have a problem using normal scandisk / defrag.

Powerdefrag has a "safety lock" that can cause that. Search your computer to see if you have it installed. If it is the problem you need to look for the "Disengage Safety Lock" feature in the program group.
