Hello I am new to this forum and very glad to have found you! Im having several issues but right now the most important one is Defrag and scan disk.. I cannot defrag b.c.
it says disk contains errors / run scan disk.
okay run scan disk in norm. mode it restarts over, over. Run it in safe mode, it says ""scan disk could not write to this disk because it is write protected .. remove or move the write protected tab and reinsert the disk. ??????? I dont have any floppy or cd's NOTHING in the drive! what can I possibly have wrong??
Hope you can help!

Hi,

Boot in DOS [f8 from cold start] and run scandisk there.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

That may not be possible without a bootdisk - booting to DOS is not normally available in WinME

Create the bootdisk by executing the downloaded file - I like the one without the RAM drive.

Boot the computer with the floppy - might need to change the boot order in the BIOS to ensure that the floppy drive is the first boot device.

Enter

scandisk c:

.. and see what it finds. Hopefully any errors will be identified and repaired.
