Comment:

I am having a problem with scan disc. When I try to run it, all it does is run for a minute or two then restarts. It acts like something is running and its writing to the hardrive, therefore it has to restart itself. I have run all the ad aware type stuff, cleaned the caches, turned off all programs through task manager except explorer, and even tried turning off the cable modem. But still no good. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Boot to safe mode ( tap the f8 key while booting up) then run scan disc

Something's running, probably an anti-virus program.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Delete and end unneeded tasks.

IMHO better than Safe Mode
