Hi..
I just started (in the last few weeks) a message while I enter various websites (ones that i have entered hundreds of time over the last year with no problems).. A little box appears and says "A runtime error has occurred. Do you wish to debug? Line 1 Error: Invalid character" and then a screen appears from a program called "Microsoft Development Environment" which I assume is on my harddrive, but have never seen it before. When I try to "Debug".. it won't let me...It says: "Source code is not available for the current statement"
Can anyone tell me what might be going on?
Thank you

Look in IE/Tools/Internet Options, and see if "disable script debugging" is checked. If not, check it.Just below that "display a notification about every script error" should be unchecked...

I did as you instructed... and will keep my fingers crossed...(The "Disable script debugging" was checked... so I unchecked it - the "Display a notification, etc. was already unchecked"
Thanks so much for your help...

I think you may have it the wrong way around.

Disable Script debugging sould be checked.
Display a notification about every script error
shoud be unchecked.

There are tons of bad script writers out there on
the internet. There's no reason you should have
to debug their code every time you run into it.

a big thank you to TheKid - I too have been driven nuts by that little box asking me to debug - I took your advice and so far so good
