running programs disappear

when i sign onto yahoo messenger, the programs im running that are in the bottom right of my screen disappear one by one, but when i move my mouse over them, they show.. ive scanned for a virus with grisofts free anti virus and came up with nothing, and ive also defraged... im dont know about computers, and need some help.. i removed yahoo messeger and re downloaded it, and this is when this started...

Be careful since they are very proactive. look carefully at what they want to delete.

still having the same problem after doing the things listed above... wondering if upgrading to another messenger would solve this?

Maybe. WinME is the quirkiest OS on the planet. But this disappearing (system tray?) icons is unnatural. normally i'd suspect hacking but if it's really annoying, try reinstalling the OS.
