why is there suddinly so much is it something to do with norton some are even doubled in there twice when i untick some it goes to selective start up is it ok to keep running windows like this

Well firstly, if you have multiple instances of programs in your start-up tab you will have to go into the registry to fix those. Secondly, not all of those have anything to do with Norton's. I would go here and take a look at what each of those programs are and then decide if you want to keep them running in the background. There are several that you will want to leave alone like "systray", "task monitor", "scan registry", and maybe "second chance".

At bootup i have explorer,bcmdmmsg(a modem thing)and navapw32,98% recourses free.Don't even need sys tray. Whats running at startup is very important to system stability, kristopher don't need 80% of that sh**. My rig might crash once every three months, maybe.
