I haven't gotten any error messages, but my computer has been running slow. I think it is due to multiple rundll32.exe programs running. Sometimes it will hang up and when I press Ctrl + Alt + Delete I will see several rundll32.exe running. If I close one it will say it is not responding and eventually close the program. I think this has been the cause of windows not shutting down lately as well. Any suggestions? I did have Kazaa Lite 1.7.1 but I removed the program completely after getting a vbs virus (took care of that with Norton). With all these hang ups this is getting frustrating! Any help would be very much appreciated:o)

Common problem, that I have, and no one has found a good general fix for. Seems to be a random problem with Windows ME on some systems. What I have to do is boot the system, and when its up, do an Alt-Ctrl-Del and if there is a rundll32 still running left over from startup, just shut down and try again. This way I do not get a hang later or when I shut down after using the system.

Going into CMOS BIOS setup and disabling the ACPI seems to help. Also try disabling other Power Managment options.

Rundll32.exe is just a program that is used to call program functions in *.DLL files. It is the function called that is not finishing for some reason, and there is almost no way to find out which ones are causing the problem.

What you can try, is going into Start-Run-msconfig-OK, Starup tab, and unchecking PCHealth and Taskmonitor. This should help the system run better. When you reboot you will get a message about running in troubleshooting mode. If you check the box not to disply the message again, the options that you have unchecked will be deleated. Go ahead and do this for PCHealth and Taskmonitor. If it does not solve the problem you could go in and try unchecking the two PowerProfile entries (do not delete when you reboot) to see if they are causing the problem. If they are the cause, then there is something wrong with your power management setup and it needs to be fixed, not removing those entries in startup. So go back and check them.
