Rundll error

I have a HP Pavilion 6735zr with WindowsMe 4.90.3000.

I boot up and get the error message: Rundll has caused error in MMSYSTEM.DLL. Restarting does not help.

At the same time this happened, I lost my sound controls, with no speaker symbol in the task bar. Sound card seems to be OK as it works fine otherwise. Under system properties, it indicates that device is working properly. I have downloaded drivers again and did not help.

Any suggestions would be appeciated.

THANKS, JAKE. That did the trick. Now have my sound back and rundll error message is gone.

Guess I spoke to soon. Error message is gone and volumn controls are present in task bar, but once again I have no sound.

Anyone got any suggestions ?

Dude,
It's crazy but reset the defaults in your bios and it will work. Trust me
