For some reason When I signed on to the Internet I received a warning from Zone Alarm it said do you want to Run a Dll as an App? I said no but I have never got this before, I looked at my control center in Zone Alarm and sure enough it in there I have never seen this, does anybody know what this is or means? Sue

just thinkin
why would the introduction of a new app or program prompt a client(you) to server(them) wakeup for ZA?
it's sort of like calling yourself on a one line.
in sue's case it would depend on what is new.
in jimbol's case, it is new.
i'm gettin out of my realm and have several questions
is a dll an application?
is a dll an application in search of a program?
does a program need a dll?
i think yes
well anyway in both your cases you probably
got fleas in the sheets.
the simple act of detecting new hardware's not spose to do this, least not inducing some kind of internet activity, even if it is to yourself
hope the tribal elders pitch in

I blocked it because I have never seen it, I ran ad aware and virus scan and nothing came up, since it is the first time I seen it and I always check whats in there I just said no but still am wandering why it came up, I did download a free trial of Bullet Proof FTP and since then have uninstalled it, do not like anything causing zone alarm to come up with a warning unless I use the program. Yes I am running IE6 and have been as soon as it was not a Beta and have had no problems with it, I ran the mouse over it and all it says is C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE, all in caps then Run A Dll As An App, its not automatic update because I have that turned off I just deleted it from Zone Alarm & like I said the only thing I installed way Bulletproof FTP and I just uninstalled it too. Strange. Sue

Sue thank you that is exactly what i am seeing. At one point i ran my system through PCPitstop which picked up the program as running in the background but did not have any details.A repeat test did not register the program. The only time the program became operational was during a particularly cranky driver install...must be a connection here.Anyway will keep an eye on this and if anything new develops will start a new thread under a similar heading.Good luck.

Thanks, I think I also will contact Zone Alarm, when it came up I did not go to their site and check it out, because usually it does not tell you, if you get it again and you have Zone alarm click who is this and I will too. Thanks Sue
