I recently tried to in stall an external NIC on my Dell Inspiron 2500 notebook which has Windows Millenium OPS. I ended up with an rpcss.exe error which caused the computer to crash. I had encounted this error before when I tried to install a cable modem through a USB port. In both cases, I ended up reverting back to previous system settings and never did install the cable modem or the card. After a little google reseach I found that some people out there are woried about rpcss.exe as a trojan horse. So, How do I install the NIC card on my Windows Millenium Dell notebook (Deleting and/or renaming mdm.exe and rpcss.exe (rpcss.exe seems to regenerate itself)?

You cannot rename or eliminate RPCSS.EXE(nor should you try) and if you manage to, the computer will have all kinds of issues. It is a required system procedure that handles interprogram and network functions.
I submit that your issue(s) are due to incorrect installation, incompatibility or system conflict issues of some type. Without more specific info as to the components in question it would be difficult to say.
