Tony,I don't use OE,but you might/should be able to find what you need here. It's an excellent site, and definitely worthy of bookmark status...

I have heard of a program called 'undelete'.
I know nothing of it but I doubt it would work after a defrag. I will look at the progs I have on disc & report back tomorrow.
If I find something I can E-mail it to you or at least give you a site where it can be D/L from.
(I have found an index file for OE while looking around Windows, but I doubt you would be able to read it).

In OE go to tools/options/maintenance/uncheck empty messages from the deleted items folder on exit.

next time you delete the messages it will always be there [even if you logoff and shut down your pc] unless you empty it out manually

Tony, you can try this. Some people say it saved them, worth a shot.

Drive Rescue is a data recovery tool that allows you to find any lost and deleted data on your hard disk even if the partition table is lost. Discover important file system tables of your hard disk, including partition table, boot record, FAT and file/directory records. The program supports FAT 12/16/32 file systems. The program is very easy to use, simply browse the Explorer-style tree of deleted files and right click to restore selected items. The display also indicates the condition of the file as either good or poor, indicating the possibility of successful restoration. It also offers some additional tools for advanced users. Not for NTFS!

You can get it at:-

Tony, go to Outlook Express folder and right click on Deleted Items.dbx click Open With... Choose either notepad or Word. If you choose notepad you'll end up with Word anyways...... Back to what I was saying ;-) Do this, and SHAZAM there they should be. This also works with the others ;-)

Good Luck

....Forgot to say. If you share this computer with someone you'll also be seeing there deleted emails. OOOPPS But, I guess what comes around goes around. Remember this works both ways. So, I guess it'll just turn into who's the bigger snoop.

I'll Try :-)

Tony the best I could find is -
Recover 4 all.
Restores files deleted from the recycle bin.
252KB 9x NT 2000
I can find this on the disc and E-mail it to you if you want to try it. I have never used it my self though.

Yes you will see what you are talking about. But, scan threw its entirety.(they will show up in plain text and HTML mark up) I do this little trick for a lot of different people. Kind of like a party game:-) They bet me I can't recover their deleted emails. Boy are they wrong. You also can do it by going into a DOS-Prompt (edit) or strictly DOS. Another funny thing. URLs pop up now and then ;-)

Well, I guess I tried to help. You're welcome Tony.
