In WinME there is a hidden file called _RESTORE in C: drive, containing 4 files: 3 DAT of Ikb each and one CFG of 68kb, nothing else.I was surprised to find in property that _RESTORE has a size of 478MB and size on disk 661MB. I imagine this file has something to do with System Restore. Since I write an image once a week I guess I do not need System Restore. Getting rid of System Restore or better still get rid of _RESTORE would save disk space, and make the image smaller. Would someone be kind enough to unravel the mystery of _RESTORE for me and how, if possible, to delete its contents?

you can either remove completely system restore (look for some previous posts how to do it)... or you can disable it and then enable it again and you will lose all the previous restore points and the _RESTORE will shrink to about 15 meg... thats how i have it now... i still did not decide how to deal with it finally

When I wanted to use sytem restore once, I competely crashed my computer.
So I used system remover pro to remove system restore and moviemaker. You can find it here.
Be sure to backup your wininit.exe-file, because sometimes, it gets lost after a few reboots. I never had any problems with windows anymore.

The reason The _Restore file is so large is that there are hiddin system files inside it. To see them go to folder options and select show hidden files and unselect Hide system files. You will be able to see the files that are making it so big. Just thought you might want to know why its so big.
