My Restore folder has over 60000 files in it and is slowing my computer down when I run scans. I can not delete these files either. Is there a way to delete them and is it save to delete them. I don't need to use the restore feature at this time because my system is runnning pretty good. Am I safe at just deleting almost all of these file except for the few at the end that were created within the last few days? Thanks in advance for any help.

You could temporarily disable System Restore, delete these files and re-enable it.
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the System icon. The System Properties dialog box appears.
3. Click the Performance tab, and then click File System. The File System Properties dialog box appears.
4. Click the Troubleshooting tab, and then check Disable System Restore.
5. Click OK. Click Yes, when you are prompted to restart Windows.
Then, go down into the _RESTORE folder and delete everything that's there. It's all needed for Restore Points. Since you've got a perfect set-up, you can get rid of old junk. Then, follow the steps above again, but uncheck "Disable System Restore" and restart. Then, make a system restore point. It won't take up hardly any space now.
I hope this helps,
James

sounds like you have a large disk drive. You could tell ME to use less space for recovery files. Follow James directions first, then in File System Properties adjust the space for recovery files. 2 MB should be plenty for a stable system.

I have a similar problem as Dave with Restore taking up a lot of space under Windows ME. But when I've followed the suggestions I find that the space adjustment for restore files is greyed out and cannot be changed from 'max', and more puzzlingly the box for disable system restore is always checked. If I uncheck it, when I restart it comes back as checked! Any ideas??
