I have Windows ME and I went in to system tools to do a restore and nothing comes up. I had a Nimda virus back in Jan. and I used AVG anti-virus and it put the restore files in it's vault. I don't know how to get them back without putting the virus back on my computer. I also downloaded the patch from Microsoft, but I can't get that to work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been surfing your site for a while and I think it is great. Thanks again for any help you can give me.
Dick

Hi Ed, Thanks for your help on the restore problem I am having, but I am still having some problems with the RICHED20.DLL restore after deleting it in the fix nimda and also the system restore files. I put in my ME cd like Trend Micro says to do and I printed out a copy just to make sure I was doing things the way they say. I get a window that says
cannot open file :\win9x\win_14.cab
I checked for a restore folder and there isn't anything in it. When I ran my AVG anti-virus program a few months ago it had me put them in the virus vault and now it won't let me restore them back to my system so that I can run it through fix nimda. I get a box that says- cannot find find directory to save file. then I click the OK and get a
Save dialog box, save in - Restore folder
File name is-A0015447, and Save type as x.x
I click save and get a flag that says
c:\_restore A0015447.CPY and it says- you do not have permission to open file. See the owner of the file or an administrator to obtain permission.
I am the owner. I just don't know what to do. I appreciate any help I can get from you or anyone else that can help.
Thanks, Dick
