I'm fixing a dell dimension L733r for a friend and after removing a Klez virus and another virus the system seems to be working fine except for one thing... after putting it in safe mode last time the resolution and color stayed at 16 colors and 640 by 480 (or whatever the smallest setting is for resolution) the next time a booted up. Now whenever I go to display settings and set them back to 16bit and 60 by 800 it asks me to reset and then boots up with the safe mode settings again. Is there any way I can set these in the registry or system files somewhere to make it permanent. I tried reinstalling the drivers from the dell resource CD and it didn't appear to change anything. After doing some research on the dimension L733r though I found that there is a resolution moniter thing called matcli.exe made by compaq that is usually included, does anyone know where I can get this? Also how can I permanently disable the programs I disabled in msconfig, I don't know if this is part of the same problem as the resolution but when the window comes up saying that I have disabled some start up programs for troubleshooting and has a checkbox for don't give me this message again and I check it it still gives me the message on the next bootup.
