I am running Windows ME and IE5 on a P266 PC

I recently installed Yahoo Instant Messenger. It has put an extra toolbar with the Yahoo symbol on my Internet Explorer 5 window. I want to remove this toolbar without uninstalling Instant Messenger. Please, how do I go about it?

Although I unticked the box for automatic startup, my system automatically connects to Yahoo as soon as I fire up IE. How can I stop this please?

I want to be able to control Yahoo instead of Yahoo controlling me.

I have succeeded in removing all but the Y symbol by editing the bar: Removing items.
Then, I dragged up everything in one single bar.

You can avoid the messenger to engage automatically at startup by right clicking on the red Y in the taskbar/start menu at the bottom, and Select exit.

And I know what you mean, I struggled with that for a while.

To remove the entire Yahoo toolbar just click on the pencil next to it and you will see the option "Remove Yahoo Companion" Click this and be ready to restart of your computer. Viola, no more Yahoo taking over!
