HI, My grandmother recently tried to install xp over 98. It ended up not working and now when she starts her PC it comes up with a list of operating systems (98 and xp), and it defaults to xp within about 3 seconds. Does anyone know where you can change this? I know you do it under startup and recovery options in 2000 but not sure about me... any help?
so she just wants to boot into 98 or win-me whichever she has have her make a windows startup disk start-settings-control panel-add/remove programs-startup disk tab-create disk (she'll need a blank floppy)after creating it reboot with it in the a: drive and at the a: prompt type sys c: and press enter it will respond system transferred take out floppy and reboot it will now go directly into windows.

Which system does she want to boot to? Was the XP install successful? Are you able to select the 98 option and boot it?
Need more information.

Sorry, I can't believe I typed the wrong thing. She doesn't have 98, only me, which she tried to install xp on. It didn't install properly and she quit the setup halfway through. Now when she starts up it asks her which operating system she wants to select. She doesn't want XP anymore and just wants to load straight into me. I know in 2000 you can remove the list of operating systems in my computer properties, but I'm just not sure where to do it in me.... hope someone can help!

Boot with an ME bootdisk. Choose Without Cd rom support. At the a:\> prompt type:
sys c:
If all goes well you will see:
System Transfered
Pull out the bootdisk and hit ctrl+alt+del to reboot.
