I have a secondary 80 gig hard drive that is used for storing music files. I want to remove it and install it in another computer. My question is: is there a proper procedure for removing it or do I just unplug it and install it into the other computer with installation disc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The secondary drive is for storage and is not a mirror of the primary hard drive.

No special procedure. Normal stuff like : don't let the unhooked cables touch the motherboard, don't drop the drive, etc.
Make sure dip connector is set correct for
distination machine (master/slave).

I would recommend disabling Windows ME's system restore on the system before removing the disk drive, and rebooting. This will delete any save files in the _RESTORE area of both disk drives and free up space. Then shut down and remove the drive. When you restart the system, check that system restore has re-enabled itself because of the drive change. Enable it if not.

If you put the second drive on a system with any other version of Windows running on it, it would not know what to do with the hidden _RESTORE folder on the drive and that space would never be released for use.

Thanks jubalsams and Jack G. JackG, I have system restore disabled already (I have GoBack installed). Does this change any advice you gave? Thanks again.
