Hi all;
I've been searching to no avail.
Anyone no a way to remove yahoo from context menus. I use the messenger and companion toolbar.I've looked into the registry with no luck.
The entries are like these.
"IM this link to a friend."
"Add this link to my Yahoo! Bookmarks."
"Email this page to a Friend"
"Search the Web for..." highlighted text.I don't like extra context menu items.
I have looked in the usuall registry areas.
I prefer to learn how to it manually.
I already checked TweakUI.
I know about Context Menu Editor 1.0If there are any Yahoo users out there I would appreciate any feed back;

Running ME you will have to edit the registry.Scroll down page to appropriate section for detailed step by step directions.
Restrict Context Menu Additions.

Hi smittee;
Thanks for the reply.I've looked into the registry everywhere I thought it could be found. PCWorld is a great site to find answers.
Unfortunately I can't seem to find the correct ContextMenuHandlers for the added Yahoo entries.
There are a number of alphanumeric keys which I can't identify as being associated with anything. Including some in the yahoo software registry. Googleing the keys came up with no results.
So I'm still at a loss as to which keys need to be deleted. I suspect only the latest version(s) of Yahoo messenger or the companion toolbar added this. Perhaps that's why the lack of information so far.
I'm not afraid to edit the registry. I have before. But I can't seem to find out how to do this one.
But I appreciate your reply. Thank you;

Sorry that didn't help.
Try reading this thread, particularly near bottom and see if it helps.
I do not use Yahoo Messenger myself so treat this FWIW.
Remove Yahoo but run Messenger

Hi again smittee;
Good job. I have partial success. I commend your search skills.I no longer have the "IM this link to a friend" in the context menu when I right click a WEB link. The registry path is as follows.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/CLASSES/CLSID
I deleted the {E5D12C4E-7B4F-11D3-B5C9-0050045C3C96} Key.I deleted the same Key in other places but it had no noticable changes so I put them back.
The "Email this page to a Friend" entry in the same context menu is set to my email client and not to Yahoo mail. That's OK.
I still have the "Add this link to my Yahoo! Bookmarks" in the same context menu. And I still have the "Search the Web for" in a different context menu when I right click highlighted text.
I am extremely pleased with the results so far. I've been looking into this for quite some time.
Thanks so much for helping me with this.I'll post back if I figure out the rest of this. Feel free to do the same.
Again, a big thanks;
RandyL
