I removed a Compaq IJ300 printer from a Windows 98SE machine running on a network and tried to install the software on this Windows ME computer running on the same network. I removed the computer from printers folder and there are no current printers showing on this computer, but every time I go to install the IJ300 on this computer, I get an error message. When I tried to delete the printer port manually it tells me that another computer is connected to this printer, which it isn't, (no other printers are connected to the network while I'm installing). Software was uninstalled from the other network computer (98SE). A few questions: Is IJ300 even compatible w/ Windows ME? How can I get the computer to not recognize the deleted printer while installing the software? I'm usually pretty quick to figure this stuff out, but this one has me stumped. Thanks

How are you physically connecting the printer? Doesn't look like there are drivers for ME:

Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

I was connecting it by parallel. Couldn't figure it out, so I just got done rehooking it back up to the 98SE machine on the parallel alongside the Lexmark X83 by USB and its working fine. Only when I hooked it back up all the software and configurations were all there as before and the printer took off printing from this machine like nothing had ever been done. Add/Remove from the 98SE didn't seem to really remove anything. Go figure. Was getting worried there as we use the printer for business printing and needed that one for orders that were coming in this morning. Appreciate your help though! Thanks!!
