How do the group view the future ?

Anything to be done before the facility is lost ?

Here's a similar one - we've seen quite a few in recent times

It does get a little tiresome - M$ has withdrawn their 'support' (such as it is) from a variety of products - the effect has been... negligible

We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true

Hi SlowRambler and everyone else:

My opinion is that security for older systems is at risk from now on. Therefore diligence is needed.

If you haven't already done so, download and save all updates from the Microsoft Updates catalog in case you need to reinstall in the future.

Protect yourself in the future with third party programs and update them regularly.

Update your third party programs.

A good antivirus, host file, antispyware, Internet Explorer settings, etc. etc etc. will be more important then ever.

I could go on and on but I think my point is made. Take other measures to protect yourself since Microsoft will not.

Then backup all your data as you should anyway for the inevitable day when you wish you had for any reason.

Buy a new computer that supports Vista and transfer everything to it. It should only take three or four weeks for me and a few hundred dollars. And then about a thousand more for updated programs.

Wait a minute. I get it now.
I need a new computer.
I need to do thousand hours of work.
I need thousands of dollars of new software.
I need a lot of new hardware too.

Guess I'll limp by as long as I can and keep backing up my data.

Just my opinion.

Thanks RandyL.

Your response has made me recover my confidence to dare ask questions (and try to help where I can) in this forum.

I totally identify with and share your 'opinion'
