My HP came with restore disks and since the problems below have been occuring, I want to know if I can uninstall and reinstall just ME using the HP restore disks. I don't want to restore the whole system because I'll lose the many files I have. If not, what do you suggest since ME seems unstable. ME has been giving me problems. It no longer uses restore points (I get invalid restore point). System no longer has sound for programs though music CD's can be played and heard. DVD works improperly.

You might want to see if there are any updates available. You can also run disk defragmenter. If you have a cd writer you can also put your files on a CD rewritable and restore the whole computer. Hope this helps. Russ

What is the Hp's model and number? Are the disks you are talking about CDs? If they are CDs, what are the titles on them?

hello you could try just reinstalling windows on top of its self. goto c:windows/options/cabs/setup.exe dubble click set up. you may want to shut very thing uneeded off or do this from safe mode. it allso some times ask for m.e serial number(product key)this just fixes missing or damaged windows files. you might allso want to do the things in this link(recomened) how to run m.e well verion 5 http://www.burzurq.com/forum/trevtweak.html
