I just formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows ME on my Dell Dimension 8100. Now when I boot up the computer I get the blue screen and this error. "An exception OE has occurred at 0028:C00615d in VxD VNETBIOS(01). Then if I hit any key to continue windows does load but in safe mode.

Here's some suggestions that worked for others:

If you have anything unnecessary hooked into the USB disconnect it until you load all necessary drivers. The dell support page is here:

That model apparently came with different hardware and the support page has downloads for all. You may get more specific info by searching using your service tag. If you have the turtle beach sound card check this:

Why was it necessary to reformat & reinstall Windows?

I came up with a virus/trojan that pretty much sunk my computer. Nothing would function. Most programs would only have a fault when I tried to open them. Anyway I found the problem with the blue screen was I didn't have my video drivers installed. So I think I am on my way to having this problem taken care of.

Download all drivers, utilities, documentation for your Service Tag Number and burn it all to cd. It'll save you a lot of time if you have to do this again or if you ever install a different version of Windows.
