Help. While attempting to reformat my HD, I accidently erased everything, including the current OS, WinME. Now, I am stuck at the C:\> but I am led to believe that Windows 98 is still there since it says Windows 98, Copyright Microsoft Corp. 1981-98. Anyway to get to the Windows 98 GUI from the C? Is there a way to re-install WinME from the C?

er..before I can help you, you'll need to clear some things up for me, like what exactly what you trying to format (since formatting does bascially erase everything on the target hd), and how are you getting to this dos prompt? (C:>) Do you have a startup disk, bootable cdrom, or are you just booting from the remnants of your HD?

You may be seeing 'Windows 98' logo from the bios. As Response Number 1 says, your OS is gone. That's what reformatting does.
If you don't have a Windows OS disc, you are stuck. Unless a genious on here knows better.........
