There is sometimes a restore floppy that comes with a recovery disk to read preinstalled Fat12 code on the 1st 3k of the hdd, to activate the recovery disk. If you havent got this it may be difficult to get ME back.

Try fdisk again and make primary dos partition 5mb less than full size of hdd and reformat. check to see if there is any fat12 or fat16 partition on the disk.
This has worked for me on 2 occasions with this problem.
Then try the recovery disk on its own.
Cant take you any further than that.

Sorry to say this mate but your stuff is history.
Once you have formatted then it's gone FOR GOOD except for the people perhaps say in the Defence Dept etc. Just put it down to a mistake, get ME and re-install it if you can.

PS The recovery disk is only good if you already have the system on the PC.

Did you get the restore disc that came with the PC in question? The one that came with your old PC will not work.. each restore or recovery disc is model specific and will only work with that machine.

If you didnt get the disc with the machine you will need to purchase a new operating system.
