Comment: Im building a new rig...with a 80GB HDD...is it possible to use the Windows ME install disk that came with my old Dell to install the OS into my new computer? im going to use the same Key...so would it install even though my new built computer is not a Dell?

Reply: (edit)No, it will not work. I ran into trouble when I had to replace a hard drive that went bad. IMHO, I know it saves the manufacturers licensing costs, but it leaves the consumer it a jam when something major happens.

Reply: (edit)yes it is possible. some cd's are made to recognize certain hardware. if that hardware is not present it wont work. give it a try if it works go for it.

Reply: (edit) install any 98 windows. rename version.exe & command.com. extract the me options folder to C:/windows/. if its not on the cd then burn a copy of a friends. start setup.then restat computer and type C:/
then C:/windows/options/cabs/setup.
then you'll need your key.
