i would like to know how to reformat my comp myself instead of having to pay my comp dealer the money!!!!

If things have got that desperate, then see another post in this forum from yesterday:

It's about changing from ME to Windows XP so ignore the references to XP and just take note of the reformatting instructions - read response 4 and 5 to this post.

If you don't need to save any of your data, it's really simple. Just boot to a bootable floppy disk, and when it gets to the A: prompt, type the following:

format c:

and hit Enter. It will ask you if you're sure, and just hit Y, or enter for Yes.

Then, when it's completed, change your boot options in your BIOS to boot to the CD, and you can then install your Operating System from the CD.

Or, you can just boot to the CD, and install the OS from that point. If you're installing another Windows OS, the drive will be formatted during the install process.
