I am having problems with one of my computers and it needs to be reformated, but don't have the recovery disk for it, but I do have one for my other computer,can I use this disk to reformat? Both are Windows ME

hello NO not unless its the exact same make and modle of computer. recovery disks read your bios to make sure its the right computer and not a diferant one. but if a person had a copy of norton ghost they could clone the drive from the other computer .remove other computer ordgenal hard drive . set the newly cloned drive with jumpers set to master in master slot in ide cable reboot than go to registery and do a search for enum key delete it shut off compoputer remove drive and put it in old computer reboot windows should look for all hard ware and reinstall drivers if all goes well. you may need to up date some. the other way is to gointo the good computer goto registery and delete enum key and put ghost floppy in drive reboot and ghost copy o/s to cd,s and these cd,s will now work like full install cds if windows picks up and installs all the drivers for the hard ware on other computer. have a nice day

make a winME bootdisk, or go to bootdisk.com get one for win9x boot with that then you should be able to reformat the disk and then reinstall winME
