i have some questions about reformating as i am soon going to reformat WINME then install WINXP.Plz help. as i have never re-formated b4. Once the computer is re-formatted does it start up in DOS mode? How can you install a cd rom (like winxp) if the drivers are deleted? do u need a disc? if so what files do u need on this "disc"? I have heard that the WINXP disc has an option to RE-FORMAT and then install XP is this true? PLZ HELP.
Windows XP is a bootable CD-ROM. You may have to change the boot order in bios so that the cd-rom is first. Before you poke around in bios stick the disk in and restart the computer and see if it runs. If it does you wont have to enter bios.
After making sure the CD will autorun..[Do this first] Stick in a winme startup disk and use the format command to wipe the drive. If you dont know how to format Click Here. Read the whole page.. All the links you need to learn how to format. Then scroll down to "lets begin" and follow steps 1 thru 6. Skip the rest and stick the XP cd in and follow onscreen instructions.
