Comment: ok - Pentium 4, 1.5 ghz Dell Dimension 4300 - had serious freeze, error messages galore with Windows ME. Decided to reformat my hard disk and reinstall ME. Did the a: format c: and answered yes to clear the drive, however upon reinstalling the program I am getting the blue screen: An exception has occurred at 0028:C00610CD in VxD VNETBIOS(01)+00000B8D. This was called from 0028:C023F58D in VxD VMM(0c)+0000058B. It may be possible to continue normally (ha). Can't get passed this screen and have to physically turn off the machine. Won't allow me to Ctrl Alt Del. Is there a possibility that the virus software is still lerking in the drive somewhere?

Reply: (edit)http://www.startdisk.com/Web2/ubd/ubd.htm Download this freware and use it to make a "ultimate boot disk".It has boot sector virus support as well as MANY other neat features. One of which being a format and install routine that is absolutly fool proof. jimi_l

Reply: (edit)Lisa It may be a recoverable error. http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q272/9/91.asp If you can boot to safe mode you can alter registry from there. GL
