Comment:

I moved files into my recycle bin to be deleted. The icon shows this by the waste basket (recycle bin icon) looking full. When I open the recycle bin there is nothing present. My thinking is that the recycle bin has become corrupted. Could someone tell me how to fix this problem. Anyones advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you,

Peter

"Start the computer with the Windows boot disk
At the command prompt, type the following lines, pressing ENTER after each line:

attrib -r -s -h c:\recycled
deltree c:\recycled

Restart the computer. This re-creates the Recycle Bin."

if the above doesn't help;;

Fix Recycle Bin icon

Here is the registry patch which will restore the functionality of the
Bin. Make the following, after - - start and before - - end into a
file by cut/paste to NotePad. Don't let lines wrap around, and make
sure there is a blank line at the end. Save as "Patch.reg" then
d-click on this file to enter it into the registry.

- - start
REGEDIT4

[HKEY CLASSES ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}]

Then make the following two lines into a file - say C:\recycled.txt

[.ShellClassInfo]
CLSID={645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

After that, go to a DOS prompt and give
CD \RECYCLED
DIR /A
and make sure that a file Desktop.ini is present. If not give
COPY C:\Recycled.txt Desktop.ini
ATTRIB +H +R +S Desktop.ini

The file is needed for Explorer view to display its content in a 'bin'
manner
