I recently contracted a virus on my PC. I had it serviced by a computer service and unfortunately, I lost all my programs, documents..etc.. well, everything. They installed a few of their programs on to the computer, however, in the process of using the recovery disk, i was told that the disk was scratched and now I don't even have that. what can i do? Thanks in advance..

odd... I posted the following in response to this query a day or so back...?
Often it's not the CD that is scratched...; just an error message that suggests it is and the error message is coughed up for other reasons...
Typically the reason can be RAM; it's failing... So you swap out RAM stick (mainatining a min for the OS involved...) and try each stick out of the system in turn;
The error message (first came to my attention here an aeon ago... on the NT forum).
