This goes out for all the people that have read insane comments on OS's.. Win Me is not a fluke! Win Me is not for you Win 98 users that bought a Gateway! Win Me is not for impatient users! If you think Win Me is a piece then you obviously should be using web tv! yes, win me can be more frustrating than all the rest of microsoft os's, but if you actually take the time to make it work (props to all you linux unix users..) you will notice that it straight out performs its predecessors. Wither it be startup, shutdown, printing, connecting to the internet, anything. If you have problems there is always a fix considering it is software related.. I will admit that it is not as stable as Win 2k. (WIN2K IS NT BASED.) Windows ME is what it was made out to be and more!

I agree that once you made it stable, found all fixes etc, it works fine, but when you add something from that point, you can start again.

HEHEHEH... Lewdoll... i did not get laugh so good for a long time....
with a good OS, the user should not be even aware of it, not spending months to troubleshoot and tweek it.. also a good operating system should work with Gateway... also with Compaq and Dell ;-)
people think that windows ME outperforms its predecessors because they are comparing their old pentium 300s with 64 meg rams and 33 ata. HDs and decayed windows 98 with the new 1G pentium III, 256 RAM and 100 ATA HDs
YES... in that case the windows ME outperforms slightly its predcecessor... hehehe... but only in case that you have all the proper ME drivers and not trying to run some software that is not windows ME compatible

i'm running me on the same system i had 98 on
and i can tell you miro, it leaves 98 in it's
dust in ALL respects. better stability, faster, virtually no errors, no crashes. an all round better os. but then again you would'nt be able to tell, would you miro, you
use a compaq.

First off Micro i have read many of your odd comments, but this one is the best... Intel sucks rat balls, considering their extreme low performance and high cost. Intel 1 ghz runs as fast as a AMD k62! If you even knew of how many reviews i have done on hardware, drivers, software. Ive ran win 3.0, win95, win98, and all winnt based operating systems, including even linux unix all on my abit kt7a raid, with a 1.333 thunderbird. Win ME left them all behind. The only reason you cant get any operating system to work besides win98 is because you bought a gateway with it already installed!
What do you really think will happen if you try to install win2k drivers on your preinstalled gateway win98... or how about software that isnt compatible with 98. Common Micro your just making an idiot of yourself..

Micro, you are obviously too dumb to follow the conversation.. Exactly my point.. in your first reply you said that it might outperform it's predecessor's with all the proper drivers and so on.. Currently i dont know of any OS that runs when you install incompatible drivers...

STOP TYPING (REGARDS) IM NOT YOUR FRIEND AND THIS IS NOT RUSSIA!

Lewdol :)... you misunderstood my coments about the drivers....i will explain to you in more plain words what i ment... people that upgraded from windows 9x have often troubles with their existing videocards, soundcards, modems e.t.c. because they were misled by microsoft that windows me will be compatible with their hardware if they have pentium 150, 32 meg ram and some 800meg free disc space it takes much effort to find the proper windows ME drivers.... or people that bought a new windows ME computer have trouble using their one or two years old scanners, digital cameras, e.t.c because they were again misled.... in many cases after some effort the driver can be found... in many cases it cant ...
what i ment about the incompatible programs is again misleading microsoft statement that windows me is compatible with windows 95, 98 and 98SE programs... if you read this forum, those are the repeating questions here... and by the way i pick my friends very carefully ;-)

Micro,

So far I have not ran across one program that is incompatible with ME.. The only reason there would not be a ME driver for a piece of hardware, would be because of the company going out of buisness. Even if that was the case there is alot of times a third party driver. (fact)Microsoft cannot make every possible thing compatible.. In regards to the minimum system requirements comment, the key word is "MINIMUM!" I can guarantee you that you can get ME to work with those minimum requirements.. Maybe not very easily, maybe alittle crappy but its possible and thats why its minimum requirements (not recomended). Same applies to win2k, win98, etc. Try to get win98 to run perfectly with 6-7 year old hardware A.K.A. minimum requirements whatever they may be. I dont even think i know of a grammer school that has pentium 150, 32 meg ram and 800meg of free space. No need for regards my name is in the name box and im not writing a letter to my manager.
