Hey, after reading some posts about the number of programs that are initiated upon windows startup, I had wondered if someone might be able to provide a basic list of the programs NOT to remove from startup, cause I don't want to do any damage. And do I need to provide y'all with a list of programs I have? Thanks in advance

Go to pacs=portal and that website will have a complete listing of any program that can be found in MSCONFIG. It will also advise you exactly what each program listing does and whether you should disable it at startup. Take care and all the best!

Following are programs which are required to operate Windows. Other listings are optional to be started when computer is turned on. If unchecked, they will startup when you desire to use them.
Start, Run, type MSCONFIG - under Startup tab, uncheck all but systray, scan registry, Load Power Profile (both), anti-virus and firewall.
Hope this helps

You only need Load power profile if you're using a power management profile - I never use it so I have it unchecked (both).
