random computer shutdown?

help me. i'm running windows ME and after having the computer on for about 45min it automatically turned off. just black no shutdown screen. i can't get it to turn back on. when it does its on for 5 min then turns off again. all i know is that my video card was hot when it turned off. i know the video cards get hot when on for a while. can anyone tell me what's wrong with it? could it be the motherboard, power supply or is it the video card?

Something is getting too hot and shutting your system down. Check the air flow out of the power supply, and make sure there is a good flow and that it is not blocked. Also make sure the fan on the processor is running.
I have similar problem with my Win ME,only that my won't go back again.It shuts down monitor at random. Power button is useless, as well as reset, I have to turn electrical supply on/off.
