I'm thinking about getting more RAM, does it have to be the same company as the one i allready have in my PC?

Strictly speaking, it doesn't have to be the same brand. But I would advise to get the same if you can, as the possibility of conflicts in greatly reduced.

Hi! Joe! About 3 or 4 months I upgraded this HP Pavilion Celeron RAM.As the price of memory came down,I bought more and more.Started off with 64 then 192 (64 +128)--I then went to 384 RAM (128+256)--then finaly to 512 (256+256).I went to Best store and once at Circuity City store.Everything is working GREAT. Joe--This is the best thing I have ever done to my computer!. I have almost no crashes or freeze ups, but,Krystyna is right, try to get the same brand if you can.If you see some GREAT deals on memory in the paper of the computer companys in your area,go down and buy it.NOTE: look at your computer manual to see the EXACT kind of memory it says. You might take your manual with you when you go.---------------Donald

As Donald suggested, take your manual with you to the shop. But, if you don't have a manual, remove your RAM module ( wrap it in aluminium foil ) and take it along. That's the best way to match it up with a new stick. Krystyna

If you upgrade RAM, make sure that you put the highest one in the first bank example : if you have 128 and 256, put the 256 first. And by the way, getting more RAM is the best thing you can do to improve performance. Crucial.com has excellent service.
