I added 128 meg RAM to my compaq notebook computer bringing it up to 192 meg total. I hoped that it would resolve the skipping and stalling in Window Media Player 7. It CONTINUE skipping and stalling same as before with just 64 meg ram. Enybody interested in a used 128 meg RAM chip?... will sell... and buy a discman....hehehe

What is your point Miro?? You continue to post the same issue. Kindly preform a fresh clean install and be done with it! With your issues about WMP7 and AOL you would think that you would have installed Win98 or 2K by now?? You already know what ME is about??
I don't want you to get the wrong opinion, ME is throw down inbetween stuff. So resolve your issue! By going on and on about it will not get your machine running correctly you will just be going on and on about it!! Clear your drive and start over!!! Something is wrong with your install and to nail it down you would have to become a programmer. I lost count of how many installs and reinstalls that I have done. One common thread is that is the approved method of solving issues. If that gets you back to square one than you have a hardware issue!!
Enough all ready!!

I just informed the people that suggested to me to buy more RAM to resolve it, that it did not resolve anything. I keep posting the same issue to tell people that did not read about it yet. Not expecting you to read the same things over and over :). I feel satisfied every time i help decide somebody to avoid windows ME. Reformating and reinstalling windows ME will not help in my case. These two are known issues that CAN NOT be resolved by reformating and reinstalling. They have to be resolved by microsoft. I will be posting from time to time about them, untill they will not get resolved by microsoft to my satisfaction. I am posting always under my true name, so who does not want to read it, it is very easy to avoid it.

I agree, Media player 7 is a poorly thought out product. Its equalizer adds distortion and does indeed skip tracks when it feels it. I now use the good old Cd player from win98.
winmm.dll is driving me insane and to top it off I can't use my Studio DV video capture card because of it and I'm still waiting for a reply from their tech support.
Overall I think after living with it for 3 months it could have easily done with another 6 months development including removal of the 20 year old Dos code!!!

jonno, how did you get the old CD player? on my computer the shortcut to CD player goes to the WMP7. I looked all *.exe files to find it but it is not on my computer.
