RAGE XL :: Please Help!

I have RAGE XL card. When I install it, windows wont load. So I put in my old one and start windows. i go on the net and download the display drivers. i try and install it, and it says that my card is not supported. thats because my old card is in there. So I cant install my new video card because windows freeses when its in the pc. I need help on getting this working. Please help!

Try putting that old card in, and boot to windows, and remove everything for that card, drivers, programs, systray options. Take the thing out of the device manager. Shut down the computer, and install the new stuff. Let me know what happens, and write down any errors.

Nope, tried that b4. I got it to work now. Im not sure how tho. Just install, reset, install reset, safemode, install, reset, freeze, reset, freeze, reset, fixed.

Basically, you need to change to a SVGA driver in device manager, then update the 4 in 1 chipset drivers (see point 15 of the homepage link on this response), then change the card, start in safe mode, update the video driver using the method below, reboot.

Update the video driver: right click on My Computer, go to properties, device manager, expand the + beside display adapters (which means graphics cards), click on the driver listed, go to properties (bottom left), find the driver tab, click update driver, select specify the location of the driver, click on display a list of drivers in a specific location, click next, click have disk, and point Windows to the new drivers for your card and let it update. Reboot and see how it is.
