Could a bad video card cause problems with the VCACHE that would lead to windows blue screen errors?

I am using a brand new Elsa Gladiac GeForce 2 GTS 32MB vid card and I feel the chances of it being defective are slim, but still a possibility.

I receive the exact same windows blue screen error randomly which locks up my PC every time. I was wondering if bad video RAM could have something to do with my problem(I am using Windows ME).

Blue Screen Error:
File Name : VCACHE(01) + 000015A4 Error : OE : 0028 : C004EC40

Everything on my new PC was bought from the company except for this vid card and therfore if this poses the problem I have to fix it myself.

Vcache is not video related. It is the caching that Windows uses for disk caching. It could be that you have bad system memory or your system is overheating or overclocked. Does your motherboard have any temperature monitors? What type of system?

I would doubt your video card has anything to do with it.

My system is the following:
Pentium III 933 Mghz CPU, Epox 3CVA2 board, 256 MB PC133 RAM, SB Live XGAMER 5.1, Elsa Gladiac GeForce 2 GTS 32MB video card, A Seagate (master) and Maxtor (slave) 30 Gig HD, a Plexwriter CD-RW (master) and 52x CD-ROM (slave)

The CPU temp was running around 75 degrees F on the Bios PC Health screen. Does this seem more like an OS or software issue then? I just wasn't sure if video RAM had nything to do with VCACHE.

Its not running hot for sure unless it is really spiking when it dies. My guess (and it is only that) is hardware but I wouldn't bet my life on it. Windows can do some weird things when it wants to as well.

By the way, do you have anything sharing an IRQ with your video card? Even though the system doesn't flag it as an error, I have heard that this can cause problems. Any PCI card in slot 1 will share an IRQ with your video. You might want to check that too.

1 word (two technically) sums this problem up 'Windows me' its breaks everything. I used to run windows 98 on my system and recently updated to windows me and everysince i have had this problem along with windows protection errors about every week. This is more than I used to get in windows 98 and they didn't need me to format my hard drive just about every other week. Yet again Microsoft have succeeded in making another rubbish OS system as usual.
