Have you installed any software that you know of lately? It is possible that is part of that program. If you are unsure what it is you can try to perform a search on your computer for that file and see what directory it is residing in, that may give you an idea.

What do you meant that it's a virus? Which one, if that is a substantiated claim. I just did a search and pulled this list because I am getting qttask.exe at startup too. Please respond...

it is not a virus...dont worry, it is created by quicktime movieplayer and it is the automatic checker for updates for quicktime. you can kill it by going to quicktime player, then to edit, then to prefs., then quicktime prefs, then from the drop down select update checker, then uncheck the auto check.
