Hi. I am facing the same problem. I have the PSW.Agent.H trojan. It's located in the WINDOWS\TEMP\_UPDATE.DAT file. I'm also running Windows ME. Please let me know if you find out how to get rid of it and I'll do the same for you. Thanks!

Regina

On the top, type in PSW.Agent.H. Change the box next to it to "security" and you'll find a good thread there on your Trojan horse.

You can use the Free version of AVG Anti-Virus System, it will do the job. Download at: http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php

This is a better way to remove it than the one I posted yesterday.

Windows NT/2000/XP

In Windows NT/2000/XP you will also need to edit the following registry entry. The removal of this entry is optional in Windows 95/98/Me. Please read the warning about editing the registry.

At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type 'Regedit' and press Return. The registry editor opens.

Before you edit the registry, you should make a backup. On the 'Registry' menu, click 'Export Registry File'. In the 'Export range' panel, click 'All', then save your registry as Backup.

Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entry:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SysUpd

and delete it if it exists.

Close the registry editor.

I tried to erase the registry of it in my computer. I then restarted it and ran both my AVG and Ad-Aware and neither of them could remove this virus. If anyone knows anything or some better advice on how to get it out I would greatly appreciate it. I can't even remove the _update.dat from my temp files. This is veryyy frustrating. Any advice is welcome at this point!

I had "psw agent j" and "psw agent h"
These consist of files "sysupd.exe"and
"_update.dat"
I was unable to delete them in windows
but after booting in DOS mode I was able to delete sysupd.exe, then back in windows I
deleted _update.dat.
After that I searched and deleted
references to sysupd.exe in regedit
This seems to have got rid of the virus
Both files are gone and AVG shows me
clear of viruses
