During the last 24 hours, both my PS2 keyboard and mouse have started locking up with no warning and at random times. The mouse pointer does not move and if I continute to move the mouse around, the computer makes a continuous beeping noise. The keyboard usually locks up shortly afterwards, with all the Lock status lights turning themselves off, and then none of the keys working. Because I then lose control over the system, I am forced to reset the computer. Does anyone know why this might happen and how it can be resolved?

I can only offer that you boot to safe mode, check for duplicate devices and remove them. Check settings in BIOS. Boot with a regular startup and check device manager for conflicting IRQs. Disable unnecessary startups. These are just simple steps ..it could be solved by this or it could be worse. Trial and error.

My problem was somewhat like it after installing MS Wheel mouse optical. Keybord and mouse interfered with each other if accindentally the mouse moved as I typed. Once this had happened, keys were interpreted as sort of mouse-clicks. This wouldn't get right anymore. Had to restart. The keyboard internet keys never worked again and the keyboard was irresponsive after returning from sleep mode. And more.
For my new printer, I checked Control, System, Hardware, USB-controllers and saw it had an "error code 2". Then forwarded to Universal hostcontroller, properties, drivers and renewed the driver via the internet.
When ready I was utterly amazed that one of the internet keys, which I hit out of boredom, worked again. Tried all of the other problems but none existed anymore.
I Still don't get why a new USB-driver solved my keyboard/mouse problem, but I like miracles.
