Dose anyone know how to remove the ps guard trojan? Just keep getting black background and a link to a spyware site for removal. Not exactly the right answer there. BTW its on another machine. Dell with ME. Any help would be greatly appreciated, other than formatting.

Vtech, if you're positive you are infected, most likely, free A² can handle it. Be sure to update prior to running. Get it @:

That's for V1.2. Is there a later version?

yes, er, i have the same problem, ive done some research on PS Guard, and i found that i have all the usual symptomes: the little exlamation point, the black backround w/warning, the modified homepage and favorites list, etc. i have been searching for a way to be rid of said virus and have tried several methods. i tried your a-squared program, and many others, but to no avail. do you have any other suggestions for me?

Hey , i'll let u know what to do. Just install the trial software ad search for the trojan file . it would show the file . Run comm ' REGEDIT' - HRLOCAL MACHINE - SOFTWARE - MICROSOFT - INTERNETUPDATES - UNINTSALL . This is just appropriate information select the file like PSguard shows and del the entire uninstall folder and u'll optimize ur PC . All the best buddy.

Deleting the files in the uninstall folder will not, unfortunately, solve the problem becuase the spyware's main controls have been implemented through registry changes. You may even need to use what is in the uninstall directory to get rid of it.

I also had problems with PS Guard. A-squared didn't help, but Spyware Dr. did. However, I still can't change my background back. The tabs in the display settings are gone.

Any suggestions?

Hi - I found that using Ad Aware Personal Se I was able to remove Ps Guard includung the screen wallpaper. Afer deleting PS Guard in Ad - Adware the tabs in Screen Properties returned and I was able to select and apply a new wallpaper and that finally removed the PS Guard Wallpaper. Depending on what Windows you are using it may be necessary to turn of your System Restore and delete the restore information. If PS Guard is in your System Restore backup points it can reinfect you system. After you are sure that you are 'clean' turn the System Restore on again. Hope this helps. Gordon.
