Hello from England. I have a basic Question.Looking at msconfig startup tab I realised I had a lot of programmes loaded at startup that were not necessary.Anyone an opinion on the minimum programmes I should leave unchecked as OK to load at startup and/or those programmes essential to leave ? I have left my Antivirus/Firewall and anything mentioning Windows.Anything else ? Anything critical ? Thanks Keith

Oh, sure - it's a good idea to know just what is starting up. So very many programs 'insist' on running in the background, but that can really bog a system down. When shutting things off, try to disable from the program itself if possible, and check the 'startup' folder as well, before unticking in msconfig.
