Hi alex.

There is an easier way to get to get progman.exe back.... but I'm wondering why you think it is gone? And ddhelp.exe is a component of DirectX. It should be located in c:\windows\system.

To extract progman.exe from your cabinet files.... as long as the company you bought the computer from put them on the hard drive... try this:

Go to start>>run>>msconfig.
Click extract one file button.
This will start the extract utility.

For the file name type:
progman.exe

Click start.

Where you want to put the file:
c:\windows

Where you want the computer to find the cabinet files:
c:\windows\options\cabs

Click extract.

If it prompts you to overwrite or save the old file... just say yes.

If this does not solve the problems you are having... please tell us what is going on.
