Hello! I have a computer running Windows ME, and I use a 56k dial up modem. I am having no problems connecting to the internet via my ISP, and have no problems while using Outlook Express or any of the usual instant messenger programs. However, while using web browsers such as Internet Explorer 5.5 or Netscape Navigator, the window that is utilizing the web browser "freezes" up. When this happens though, my ISP connection still runs, and I am able to still use Outlook express and instant messengers or any other application that requires the use of a modem. My mouse and keyboard and the rest of the computer still works as well. I must hit ctrl, alt, delete to rid my screen of the window that is utilizing the frozen web browser. Sometimes I can later open a web browser and use it successfully for long periods of time, and sometimes I open it again and the freezing continues to happen. This freezing of the web browser usually happens within about 5 minutes of use. I've also noticed (since the web browser problem started happening) that my CD-R often crashes while in use, and I'm also receiving a spool32.exe error message upon startup. Any suggestions as to what might be going wrong here? Thanks!

I would suggest you make a choice between IE and Netscape?

Why do you need doth??

If you can run one or the other I think you would be better off. Try and I don't think your conflict will happen, I may be wrong but I think that "Less is More" in this situation?

Thanks Jim. Actually 99.9999% of the time, I use Internet Explorer 5.5. Trying to figure out if this freezing problems was happening exclusively with IE, I tried out Netscape to see if the problem would happen there as well. Unfortunately, I found that the problem happens with both browsers. : (

Have a look at point 14 of this post which might solve your problem

(the first link is SMUOD’s nice-looking HMTL version with hyperlinks, the second is the forum post with additional comments and replies)

If it doesn't, try the other points too.
