Subject: Problems With Colors and Icon's... HELP |
Comment: I am running Window's ME And I am having problems with the colors.. and the ICONS.. The Icon's are blowen up huge, the colors are all s---ty.. And when I go into Properties and I click on the Setting tab to go and change the colors and the size of the icon's I can't.. In colors it has 16 colors and that's it, then the Screen Area I can't move the slider... Nothing is working, I have tried everything.. And nothing works.. I can't even open my picture programs because they require 256 colors.. And That is not showing up in the setting's.. Now do I go and re-download the drivers for my moniter and try it that way.. Or is my Graphics card or Moniter going?? Because around 10:30 it was working perfectly fine untill I restarted my computer.. I need Help someone please help me..

Reply: (edit)I would try system restore start-programs-accessories-system tools-system restore, choose a restore point when it was working properly. can take awhile so give it time and let it reboot on its own. this can happen if the auto detect plug n play monitor is checked in display properties-advanced-monitor tab-uncheck auto detect plug n play monitor.

Reply: (edit)monitor drivers and graphic card drivers would be the next thing to try, I had to reinstall my monitor driver to get all the different color&resolution settings back, I also installed updated video card drivers, but the monitor driver fixed it here.

Reply: (edit)also make sure you have the right monitor selected/being recognized. I think it's in control panel/display/settings tab/advanced button/click on "change" button.

Reply: (edit)I'm with guru. I've never had to load a monitor driver in order to see over 16 colors. I have had to in order to get a refresh rate better that 60hz, but not to get colors. Missy... try reinstalling your video card drivers, using any readme.txt or instructions you find to do so.

Reply: (edit)Missy, I have the exact same problem and it's very frustrating! Things just look lousy in 16 colors - and all the Help just says to change colors settings....Ridiculous eh? Please let me know if anything worked.

Reply: (edit)Mike... Do you know what kind of video card you have? If you do, you will need to go to the manufactuer's website and download/install the driver according to the instructions. If you do not, post back with what kind of computer you have... including model number.
